Irene Marie (Springer) Bechler, 93, Goshen, died 3:30 a.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022, at her home.  She was born September 25, 1928, in Saybrook, Illinois, to Theodore & Leah L. (Naffziger) Springer.  On August 24, 1950, she married LeRoy Bechler. Surviving are her husband, LeRoy, Goshen, children, Kathleen (Michael) Lechlitner, Greenville, South Carolina, Kent (Karen) Bechler, Glendora, California, Curt (Shari) Bechler, Hudsonville, Michigan, grandchildren, Kyle (Devany) Bechler, California, Joshua (Jessica) Lechlitner, South Carolina, Kameron (Linnea) Bechler, California, Kevin (Rachael) Bechler, California, Christian Bechler, California, Connor (Jaci) Bechler, Kentucky, 7 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Eileen Springer, Eureka, Illinois, siblings, Bill (Darlene) Springer, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Merle (Joan) Springer, Austin, Texas. Preceding her in death are her parents and brothers, Myron, Robert & Paul. Irene graduated from Hesston with an AA, Pepperdine University with a BS and California State University with a MA.  She was a teacher, counselor and a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen.  She was involved in the jail ministry and Mennonite Women USA. Irene enjoyed singing, sewing, playing piano, crossword puzzles and traveling.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022, at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen.  Pastors Phil Waite and Pamala Yoder will officiate.  A family burial at Violett Cemetery will be prior to the service.  Memorial donations may be directed to Mennonite Mission Network.
