Doug Kaufman is installing Randy Miller as transitional pastor at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Elkhart, IN, May 21.
John Powell is leading a May 11 Leadership Summit for Michigan church leaders. Dan will attend. He intends to continue the Michigan gatherings after John’s retirement at the end of June.
Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference is co-sponsoring an orientation for conference staff, boards and credentialing groups to the new Ministerial Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedure on May 20. Nancy Kauffmann, denominational minister for this daylong orientation. Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church USA released the policy in November 2016.
Doug and Dan are identifying ways to work at the priority of walking with congregations and pastors during search processes. We are inviting names that churches would trust to walk with search committees.
Congregational Coaches and Leadership Enhancement Team (LET) met April 18, and continued the conversation about their DiSC profiles, especially insights about what strengths each one brings to their relationships with pastors.
Phil Bontrager and Dan Miller met with the Journey board twice in April. The board agreed to some adjustments to the program moving forward, and identified congregational leadership development as an area to develop moving forward.
Transitional Ministry Training took place at Amigo Centre on April 25-28. Six individuals with Indiana-Michigan connections participated. Three of the presenters had Indiana-Michigan connections.
