Conference students
earn diplomas at Eastern Mennonite University Commencement April 26
On an afternoon that felt more like summer
than spring, Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Va., held its 91st
commencement on the front lawn of campus Sunday, April 26.
A celebratory crowd of nearly 4,000 family and
friends applauded and cheered as the 465 members of the EMU class of 2009
received their diplomas. EMU President Loren Swartzendruber presented 348
undergraduate, 95 graduate, 9 graduate certificates and 12 study and pastoral
ministry certificates during the ceremonies.
The following students from Indiana-Michigan Mennonite
Conference are members of EMU’s undergraduate class of 2009:
Jeffrey Gingrich, a liberal
arts major, is the son of Elizabeth Gingrich of Goshen, Ind., and a member of Waterford
Mennonite Church.
Jacob King, an English major, is the son of John and
Evelyn King of Goshen, Ind., and a member of College Mennonite Mennonite Church.
Adrianne Leaman, a congregational and youth ministry major, is the daughter of Kent
and Jill Miller of Middlebury, Ind., and a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite
Church.
Rachel Maust, a French major, is the daughter of Rod and Martha Maust of Indianapolis, Ind., and a member of Shalom Mennonite
Church.
Jamie Sandberg, a social work major, is
the daughter of John and Charlene Sandberg of Valparaiso, Ind., and a member of
Hopewell Mennonite Church.
Abbigal Steury, a liberal arts
major, is the daughter of Doug and LuAnn Steury of New Paris, Ind., and a
member of North Goshen Mennonite Church.
Seth Troyer, a business administration major, is the son
of Terry and Cynthia Troyer of South Bend, Ind., and a member of Kern Road
Mennonite Church.
Kimberly Troyer, a liberal
arts major with an elementary education licensure, is the daughter of Dennis
and Kathy Troyer of Shipshewana, Ind., and a member of Shore Mennonite Church.
Jeremy Yoder, an accounting major, is the son of Rick and
Joy Yoder of Goshen, Ind., and a member of Waterford Mennonite Church.
Kristin Yoder, a social work major, is
the daughter of Allen and Evelyn Yoder of Shipshewana, Ind., and a member of Emma
Mennonite Church.
Eastern Mennonite University is a four-year,
